| Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing Holds Talks with His Angolan Counterpart |

On the morning of May 26, 2004, Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing held talks with visiting Foreign Minister Joao Bernardo de Miranda of the Republic of Angola in the office building of the Foreign Ministry. The two sides exchanged views on bilateral relations and issues of common interest.
Li said bilateral relations have enjoyed smooth development since the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Angola. The two sides have deepened mutual understanding and political trust and also enjoyed continuously enhanced cooperation in various fields and closer collaboration in international affairs. Li expressed his appreciations and thanks for the precious support the Angolan government has offered to China on the issues of Taiwan and human rights, indicating that China would like to enhance high-level exchanges with Angola, push for mutually beneficial cooperation and enhance consultations and coordination in international affairs so as to promote greater development of bilateral friendly relations of cooperation.
De Miranda thanked the great hospitality of the Chinese government and spoke highly of bilateral friendly relations, expressing the hope that his current visit would further promote economic and trade cooperation between the two governments and business communities of the two countries. He also thanked China for its generous assistance to Angola for postwar reconstruction.
Foreign Minister De Miranda started his official visit to China at Li's invitation on May 26.
